The Bridge Ends {a poem}

I stare into the frigid waters, looking at my reflection.

The bridge ends here.

In my world, there are no confections

The bridge ended there.

I am colorless, my face is bleak

The bridge ended.

I know not of what I seek

The bridge stopped here.

Here I find peace, at the edge of the lake

Where the bridge ends.

In my heart, there is still an ache

But the bridge has ended.

There is no hope, I don’t know why

I come to the end of the bridge.

Everyone says “It’s OK to cry,”

I cry where the bridge ends.

Nobody cares, if they do, they don’t show it.

I still come to the bridge.

Only the water cares, but it doesn’t know it.

I remain here.
